we are providing on Thursday, September 30th, 2021, offers a hands-on seminar for a limited number of participants but we also welcome anyone who wants to join us as an attentive listener only.

Our lecturer and tutor Joris Verdin teaches the organ at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and is professor of organology at the University of Leuven, Belgium. As both musicologist and virtuoso he has become internationally renowned as a specialist on the harmonium. He was the first to edit the complete harmonium works of César Franck and a comprehensive handbook of harmonium technique.
Contents of the course:

Part 1:
Joris Verdin's introductive lecture of about an hour length will deliver insight into the history of the harmonium, the diverse types of construction and the manifold repertoire of compositions.

Part 2:
Individualised tuition will give helpful suggestions on interpretation and support in acquiring playing techniques appropriate to the harmonium.
